Think again.
Renowned for its many health benefits, matcha has a powerful and complex flavor which makes it perfect for adding to a whole host of dishes, both savory and sweet.
Interested to know what else you can make with delicious matcha powder?
Keep reading to discover six taste sensation matcha powder recipes that you are guaranteed to love.
Before we take a look at what you can make with matcha, first, let’s explain what it actually is. Made from finely powdered whole green tea leaves, matcha is instantly recognizable by its vibrant green color.
Taste-wise, matcha powder has an earthy and slightly grassy taste with just a hint of sweetness.
To make matcha powder, whole tea leaves are grown in the shade to encourage the production of chlorophyll and amino acids. While this does make the tea more costly that other varieties, you do only need a small amount of powder for each recipe.
As mentioned above, matcha is an incredibly versatile ingredient that can be used in small amounts to dishes to add big amounts of flavor.
Some of our favorite matcha recipes include:
If you have a little bit of a sweet tooth, then matcha goes amazingly well in cupcakes. One of the most popular trending flavors on Instagram, matcha powder will turn your cupcakes a vivid shade of green and will ensure a soft and fluffy texture, much like you would enjoy with a Matcha Green Tea Frappuccino.
Alternatively, if you are not a fan of cupcakes, matcha can also be added to donut recipes. Add to both the glaze and the batter for maximum green!
Matcha ice cream, also known as green tea ice cream, is both delicious and aesthetically appealing. An incredibly popular way to use matcha powder, the savory matcha flavor works perfectly with the sweetness of the frozen cream.
If you like your desserts on the sweeter side, simply add a touch of agave syrup and you are good to go.
This premium hot beverage is both invigorating and calming, and, as matcha powder contains caffeine, it is a great alternative to your morning espresso.
Super simple to make, all you need is matcha green tea powder, hot water, milk, and sugar if you like a bit of added sweetness.
Don’t forget to froth the milk until it’s all lovely and foamy!
Perfect for breakfast or a mid-morning snack, matcha chia seed pudding is surprisingly easy to make and tastes amazing.
All you need is matcha powder, chia seeds, and milk (we recommend almond milk as this brings a natural sweetness to the dish).
Once made, you can then add your choice of toppings, such as chocolate chips, raisins, or fresh fruit.
You can make either sweet or savory matcha pancakes depending on your personal preference.
If you prefer savory flavors, spinach and matcha pancakes are healthy and delicious and can be topped with fresh fruit and yogurt for a hearty weekend brunch. Alternatively, if you favor all things sweet, matcha banana pancakes with a drizzle of syrup are the way to go.
Breakfast is the most important meal of the day, but more often than not it is a rushed affair. Make your mornings something to look forward to with a nutritious and delicious matcha breakfast bowl.
To make, simply mix your preferred matcha powder with natural yogurt and then top with fresh fruit, berries, nuts, coconut flakes, or any other toppings you crave.
As you can see, there is so much to matcha than meets the eye.
Whether you love your morning matcha latte, you like to relax with a cup of matcha green tea at the end of a hard day, or you want to whip up a batch of matcha cupcakes, once you have good quality matcha powder in your cupboard, you will be spoilt for choice when it comes to these delicious creations.

]]>Pancakes: A yummy breakfast staple that remains a classic at just about every single breakfast diner out there, as well as enjoyed at homes all throughout the world during the morning time for a quick and delicious way to start the day. But what do traditional pancakes have to offer besides tasting good? Do they provide numerous health benefits, such as boosting energy and increasing focus? Do they lower cholesterol? Reduce inflammation? Or have ingredients that promote weight loss, anti-aging or detox chemicals from the body? Well, If they are matcha pancakes, they do!
All these benefits are due to the super ingredients that matcha contains, including rich amounts of antioxidants, L-theanine, EGCG and a high concentration of chlorophyll which helps to detox out the bad stuff in the body while helping the good stuff in the body work better. And thanks to the large amount of catechins in matcha, they can even help with heart health and prevent cancer. Traditional pancakes cannot say that!
Pancakes, especially with added syrup, may be yummy and filling, however they are packed with superficial sugars and carbs, making you feel low, sluggish and bloated. Doesn’t sound like a fun or nutritious way to begin your day! By exchanging a few classic ingredients and adding matcha to the mix, matcha pancakes can be a new family breakfast staple, helping keep everyone healthy and happy, right from the start of their day. Below is a new and way more beneficial way to make pancakes, along with a bonus of Just Add Water chocolate syrup topping to try instead of traditional syrup!
Healthy Matcha Pancakes: What You’ll Need
Now for the fun part!
First, mix the banana, nut butter and milk together. Stir in the dry ingredients and whisk until combined and smooth. Let sit for 5 minutes. Butter the pan ( or use a small amount of coconut oil) you are using and make sure your heat setting is at low-medium heat ( you don’t want them to burn!) Spoon the batter onto the frying pan and wait until bubbles appear. Flip over and cook until both sides are golden brown. Plate them and enjoy with toppings of your choice! We recommend fresh fruit, honey, or our bonus recipe Just Add Water Chocolate Syrup..
Bonus: Super Easy Chocolate Syrup using Just Add Water
What You’ll Need:
Mix ingredients in a bowl and add to a pot on low heat, stirring until smooth and ready, then pour over pancakes and enjoy! That’s it! :-)

This simple recipe is recommended for anyone. Add honey, maple syrup or agave if you want. Regular sugar works, too. You can also omit the sweetener completely if you prefer to go that route.
Feel free to change up the milk based on what you have around, too. I personally recommend soy or cashew for optimum creaminess, but any type of milk will work for this recipe. The texture will vary, so experiment until you find what tastes best to you.
Let’s Matcha!
🌱INGREDIENTS:🌱
🌱INSTRUCTIONS:🌱
If you don’t have any whisks then you can use a blender.
Pour milk, matcha powder, honey (or agave nectar), and vanilla into blender container. Cover and blend on high until uniformly mixed. The texture should be creamy and frothy.
*Latte can also be made cold over ice. Simply add all ingredients plus a handful of ice to a jar, cover, and shake vigorously to combine.
* It’s super important to not get the water too hot! 160f – 180f degrees for the perfect temperature and do not go over that level. If you use scalding hot water to make the “concentrate” of a matcha latte, you’ll end up with a bitter, burnt latte. You don’t need to wait for specific water temperate most days; instead, you can wait for your kettle to boil, and let it cool for a few minutes before starting the steeping process.
