Matcha Pancakes?! A Fun a Healthy Spin on a Classic Breakfast Dish
Plus: The easiest chocolate syrup topping with Just Add Water!
Pancakes: A yummy breakfast staple that remains a classic at just about every single breakfast diner out there, as well as enjoyed at homes all throughout the world during the morning time for a quick and delicious way to start the day. But what do traditional pancakes have to offer besides tasting good? Do they provide numerous health benefits, such as boosting energy and increasing focus? Do they lower cholesterol? Reduce inflammation? Or have ingredients that promote weight loss, anti-aging or detox chemicals from the body? Well, If they are matcha pancakes, they do!
All these benefits are due to the super ingredients that matcha contains, including rich amounts of antioxidants, L-theanine, EGCG and a high concentration of chlorophyll which helps to detox out the bad stuff in the body while helping the good stuff in the body work better. And thanks to the large amount of catechins in matcha, they can even help with heart health and prevent cancer. Traditional pancakes cannot say that!
Pancakes, especially with added syrup, may be yummy and filling, however they are packed with superficial sugars and carbs, making you feel low, sluggish and bloated. Doesn’t sound like a fun or nutritious way to begin your day! By exchanging a few classic ingredients and adding matcha to the mix, matcha pancakes can be a new family breakfast staple, helping keep everyone healthy and happy, right from the start of their day. Below is a new and way more beneficial way to make pancakes, along with a bonus of Just Add Water chocolate syrup topping to try instead of traditional syrup!
Healthy Matcha Pancakes: What You’ll Need

- 1 tbsp coconut sugar
- 1 1/2 tsp matcha powder
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 1 tbsp nut butter
- 1 mashed banana

Now for the fun part!
First, mix the banana, nut butter and milk together. Stir in the dry ingredients and whisk until combined and smooth. Let sit for 5 minutes. Butter the pan ( or use a small amount of coconut oil) you are using and make sure your heat setting is at low-medium heat ( you don’t want them to burn!) Spoon the batter onto the frying pan and wait until bubbles appear. Flip over and cook until both sides are golden brown. Plate them and enjoy with toppings of your choice!
